McCain Democrats
I just watched Countdown with Keith Olbermann tonite and he opened with a story on “McCain Democrats”. Recent polls indicate some Democrats say they will vote for McCain instead of their favored Democratic candidate for President if their favorite doesn’t get the nomination.
*BOGGLE*
I just can’t wrap my head around this position. How can you be for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton and say you would vote for John McCain if your candidate doesn’t get the Democratic nomination? It just doesn’t compute for me. I’m pulling for Obama, myself, but will vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination. I did say, long before the nomination races started, that I would consider voting for McCain if the Democrats couldn’t front at least one good candidate. Thankfully, it hasn’t come to that. We have an absolutely excellent candidate in Barack Obama and, despite the recent negative slant of her campaign, I have a good amount of respect for Hillary Clinton and think she would be far better for the U.S. than John McCain.
This kind of “cutting off the nose to spite the face” action by liberals and progressive has crippled our movements in the past. I’d hate to see Obama or Clinton loose the general election because a sour-grapes segment of Democrats crossed party lines to express their displeasure with the Democratic candidate for President.
