I’m sitting in the waiting room at my auto mechanic’s place, waiting for them to finish changing the oil in my car and figure out if I need to get an alignment. There are two guys sitting here with me, whom I had assumed were typical NC smalltown types: jeans, t-shirts, ballcaps.
A couple minutes ago, they both pulled out paperback books and started reading, then one asked the other what he was reading. The second guy showed the front cover of his book, revealing C. S. Lewis’ That Hideous Strength. They then started into a deep discussion of various authors, wandering from Star Wars, to the Golden Compass, and the Chronicles of Narnia.
Teach me to judge a book by its cover.
