This just came across one of the mailing lists I’m on:

Jesus and Satan have a discussion as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God as the judge.

They sit themselves at their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen, for several hours straight. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over.

He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, “I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out.”

“Very well, then,” says God, “let us see if Jesus fared any better.”

Jesus enters a command, and the screen comes to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers. Satan is
astonished.

He stutters, “B-b-but how? I lost everything, yet Jesus’ program is intact.
How did he do it?”

God smiled all-knowingly, “Jesus saves.”

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has uncovered video footage of U.S. Christian missionaries “embedded” with U.S. Army forces in Afghanistan proselytizing and handing out copies of the New Testament written in Darri to Afghani citizens. They were assisted and aided by a public affairs unit, allowed to stay on U.S. bases and accompanied U.S. soldiers on patrols and film them; all done to promote Christianity and produce a television show called “Travel The Road”.

The number of DoD Public Affairs regulations violated in the military’s participation and assistance in producing a religious program alone is staggering, not to mention other violations (including constitutional) documented in the content of the program, which include the outrageous violation of the United States Central Command’s General Order 1-A, which absolutely prohibits any proselytization whatsoever in the Middle Eastern theater of operations. In complete disregard of this bedrock standing order, the U.S. Army facilitated these evangelizing Christian missionaries in their distribution of New Testaments in the Arabic native language (“Darri” dialect) to the Afghani people.

Youtube video is available here. I saw this first at Ed Brayton’s Dispatches From The Culture Wars and more in-depth coverage is available at Huffington Post. I dropped a note about this to the Obama Transition Team at Change.gov.
