I hope you’re happy John McCain. The tactics you’ve let your campaign advisor use are the proximate cause for all of this.

Colin Powell, retired General, Secretary of State, National Security Advisor, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, impresses me. Even after his failure to live up to his values by stumping the Iraq war to the U.N. for Pres. Bush he impresses me. His endorsement of Barack Obama this past weekend may be the most powerful 7 minutes of television I’ve watched in the past 10 years and his indictment of the current Republican party, the Bush administration, and Sen. John McCain’s campaign and Vice-Presidential choices is exactly on target.

I think Barack Obama should make Colin Powell his Secretary of Defense. Who better to place over the abused and war-worn military of the United States. Who better to shepherd it back into the fine tradition of the American military and restore its honor and morale. Powell would defend his men and women against ill-use and champion their cause with President Obama and the Congress. And what a blow it would lay to the charges that Obama doesn’t know how to cross the aisle for bi-partisan action.

Choosing Colin Powell for his Secretary of Defense would be a courageous, right, action by President Obama.

Edit: I mistakenly wrote “Secretary of State” in the last sentence. That has been corrected.

I just watched Countdown with Keith Olbermann tonite and he opened with a story on “McCain Democrats”. Recent polls indicate some Democrats say they will vote for McCain instead of their favored Democratic candidate for President if their favorite doesn’t get the nomination.

*BOGGLE*

I just can’t wrap my head around this position. How can you be for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton and say you would vote for John McCain if your candidate doesn’t get the Democratic nomination? It just doesn’t compute for me. I’m pulling for Obama, myself, but will vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination. I did say, long before the nomination races started, that I would consider voting for McCain if the Democrats couldn’t front at least one good candidate. Thankfully, it hasn’t come to that. We have an absolutely excellent candidate in Barack Obama and, despite the recent negative slant of her campaign, I have a good amount of respect for Hillary Clinton and think she would be far better for the U.S. than John McCain.

This kind of “cutting off the nose to spite the face” action by liberals and progressive has crippled our movements in the past. I’d hate to see Obama or Clinton loose the general election because a sour-grapes segment of Democrats crossed party lines to express their displeasure with the Democratic candidate for President.
